Be a #MENSCH conference: discount for paying subscribers
Tickets are on sale for our Be a #MENSCH conference in January, which will bring together organisations and individuals concerned about where our country is heading. A key theme is how each of us can make a difference. Discounted tickets are now available for paying subscribers.
Integrity. Courage.
Many of us sense that something isn't right. Honest conversation feels risky, old certainties feel shaky, and hatred that once seemed unthinkable is out in the open on British streets. History offers a warning: when anti-Semitism returns, it is never the end of the story. It is a sure sign that a society is losing its moral bearings.
The Be a #MENSCH conference and action hub, in central London on Sunday 17 January 2027, will bring together hundreds of people from across the country, and from many different causes, who want to understand what is happening and do something about it. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to care what kind of country we become.
Across a day of plenary sessions and an action hub, we'll explore four questions:
How did ordinary people let it happen? The Holocaust was not carried out by monsters alone. It depended on millions of ordinary people who looked away, went along or stayed silent. Understanding how that happened is our best protection against it happening again.
Why is national pride derided? The desire to be proud of your country is under attack from all sides. Through stories from Britain, Iran and Israel, we'll explore what it means to stand up for, and be proud of, our country.
Where does criticism end and hatred begin? Criticising Israel is part of normal debate. But much of today's activism goes further, some even calling for an end to Israel altogether. We'll explore where the line falls, and why modern anti-Zionism has become the new face of an old hatred.
What can one person do? It's easy to feel there's nothing we can do. Yet every day, ordinary people challenge authority and conventional wisdom, and change things for the better. We'll hear from some of them.
Central to the day will be stalls, displays, presentations and talks from campaigns that are already making a difference. A key part of the day is set aside for you to meet these groups and network with people from across the country. Whether it's letter-writing, social media, education, fundraising, film-making, protesting or counter-protesting, our aim is that everyone leaves having signed up to something, so that come Monday morning, you are already doing it.
In today's political climate the difference will be made by individuals of integrity and courage: mensches. Come to the conference and be one of them.
Mensch is Yiddish for a person of integrity: someone who sees what's at stake and does the right thing.
