Maccabi Solidarity Rally Location | Press Release
"It is a troubling line that has been crossed, when extremist activists are so easily able to manipulate our civic institutions in order to pursue their agenda of division." Our Fight announces details of its rally in solidarity with Maccabi Tel Aviv at Villa Park on November 6th.
On Thursday, November 6th, Our Fight will be holding a rally opposite Doug Ellis Stand at Villa Park as a gesture of solidarity with the Maccabi Tel Aviv team, and with the fans that have been excluded from the game.
Keeping Maccabi fans away from the Europa League match is a damning indictment of the current state of Britain's politics. We have seen the agenda of extremists play out on our national stage, and in response, our institutions and politicians have jointly pursued a policy of appeasement.
Whilst we cannot reverse these decisions, we aim to at least show to the rest of the world that those who have capitulated do not represent ordinary football fans, and nor do they represent the people of Birmingham, or indeed the UK.
Our Fight has been coordinating with West Midlands Police to ensure a safe and united rally, and have agreed the following arrangements:
- 6pm: Assemble at Nobel Way/Holdford Road, B6 7EP, opposite Witton railway station. (Cars and coaches can be parked here.)
- 6.30pm: Police escort for the short walk to the away end of Villa Park stadium (Doug Ellis Stand).
- 6.45pm: Solidarity rally with speakers, including Josh Howie.
- 7.30pm: Finish to allow time for Villa fans who have joined us, to make their way to their seats.
The police will be present at all times and will provide an escort for those who attend, between all locations.
Our Fight director Mark Birbeck, said:
It is a shocking and troubling line that has been crossed, when extremist activists have been able to so easily manipulate our civic institutions in order to pursue their agenda of division.
We would like as many people as possible to join us for a peaceful, solidarity rally, and show the world that these politicians are marginal — they do not represent Villa, they do not represent Birmingham, and they certainly do not represent the UK.
We thank West Midlands Police and Aston Villa FC for facilitating our rally close to Villa Park.
